Panama has been crowned champion of the Central American Four Nations American Football Tournament, capping a dominant run that began with a 67-0 victory over El Salvador in the opening game.
Panama’s championship was officially secured after Nicaragua failed to appear for the final due to injuries and a reduced roster after a 6-0 win over El Salvador, resulting in a forfeit for the final. In its statement, the Panamanian federation also acknowledged comments from the president of the Salvadoran federation, who hosted the tournament, who recognized Panama’s superior level of play and apologized for the circumstances surrounding the final.

With the win, the game goes into the books as a 35-0 decision; Panama is now ranked 7th in the World Gridiron Elo, behind Mexico in 6th. Both teams, along with second-ranked Canada will compete in the 2026 GNC this December in Panama City.
The result reinforces Panama’s rising status in Central American football and, according to the federation, sends a clear signal that the country is ready to help lead the sport’s growth across the region.
