Veteran sport administrator to lead competition standards and technical oversight in support of a world-class athlete experience and sustainable international tackle football.

VANCOUVER — The Gridiron Nations Championship (GNC) is proud to announce the appointment of Tim Enger, BPE, MA, as the competition’s first Technical Director.
In his role, Enger will provide technical leadership across core competition functions, including competition standards and protocols, game administration frameworks, operational alignment with participating nations, and the continuous improvement of the athlete and team experience across all GNC events.
Created to deliver a consistent, high-quality international competition experience, the GNC is built on clear standards, reliable event delivery, and a commitment to putting athletes, coaches, and officials in the best possible environment to perform. As a federation-led annual competition model, the GNC is focused on sustainable international tackle football—grounded in continuity, collaboration, and practical operations that work for participating nations.
Enger is the Executive Director of Football Alberta, bringing more than 30 years of senior leadership experience in provincial sport administration and athlete pathway development. Since 1989, he has been responsible for significant growth in Football Alberta’s programming and membership. He will continue with Football Alberta while providing his experience and direction to the GNC partners.
He served as Host Chair of the 2024 IFAF World Junior (U20) Tackle Football Championships in Edmonton, helping to deliver a major international event in Alberta’s capital.
Enger has been involved with every U18 Football Canada Cup since the inaugural championship as a provincial organizer and is widely regarded as one of the most experienced provincial association leaders in Canadian football. Through the Team Alberta pathway, his work has supported national-team development and international experiences, including annual competitions in Hawai‘i and Team Alberta participation in USA Football’s International Bowl.
A long-time coach and sport leader, Enger has also won six national championships as a high school head coach. He is also a sessional professor at MacEwan University, teaching sport administration content that includes governance-focused components such as Robert’s Rules of Order, policies and procedures, and risk management.
